In the late 1960’s Aretha Franklin had a top hit. This popular song was titled R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Perhaps you remember the words, as this song has endured as a Rock-and-Roll classic. This article is not about music, or Aretha Franklin, however it is about R-E-S-P-E-C-T.The Importance of RespectWhy is RESPECT so important? If you watch the prison episodes on TV you will see the inmates constantly referring to respect or “dissing” (i.e., disrespecting someone). Disrespect can, and often does, result in a fight for one’s honor.
