(Cinet)- In the first excavation in 2008, archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology have draft the outline of a system of architectural works dating from the 15th century in Xuong Giang ancient citadel ( Xuong Giang commune, Bac Giang city). This is important evidence to support continued research about this relic. Archaeologists have established the scale of Xuong Giang citadel itself, including citadel, the residential buildings, as well as the production of materials. According to Trinh Hoang Hiep, a representative of the excavation group, this is proof of construction and defense of the Vietnamese people in general and people in Bac Giang in particular. The victory at Xuong Giang is a milestone in the history of Vietnam’s struggle against Minh invaders. As a result, it is necessary to make a case to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that the site becomes a national cultural and historical relic. The northern Bac Giang provincial Department of People’s Committee approved a detailed plan for the historical relic of Xuong Giang citadel to commemorate the victory at the citadel, and those who give their lives. Xuong Giang festival, set to be one of the major festivals in the locality, will be held annually. The plan also draws attention to the preservation and promotion of values of archaeological relics which have been discovered and researched.
