Viet Nam News spoke to Ambassador of the Czech Republic Michal Kral on the occasion of his country’s National Day today. How will the Czech people celebrate their National Day? The Czech Republic’s National Day is held on October 28. It is when we celebrate the creation of the independent Czechoslovak state in 1918 and thus the restoration of Czech statehood and its historical borders. National day is a public holiday and on this occasion numerous solemn events all over the country take place with the participation of state and local officials. Celebrations culminate in the presentation of state decorations by the president of the Czech Republic at Prague Castle. We also intend to hold national day celebrations in Viet Nam. Special events will be organised by the embassy and the Viet Nam-Czech Friendship Associations in Ha Noi and HCM City. Viet Nam’s investment in the Czech Republic is limited to just four projects, that involve real estate and construction materials. How could Viet Nam boost its business activities in the Czech Republic? This question should rather be directed towards Vietnamese businessmen. The Czech Republic is an open economy and there are favourable conditions for foreign investors. Considering the structure and orientation of Vietnamese foreign investments it would be best for big State-owned Vietnamese companies in vital sectors like raw materials, communications to invest abroad.
