Vietnam’s models of climate change adaptation in focus Vietnam one of the most prone countries to disasters Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized this while receiving Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Rajendra K. Pachauri in Hanoi on August 17. Mr Dung said that Vietnam is willing to cooperate with the IPCC and hopes that the panel will back its participation in IPCC’s studies on climate change so that the country can update research outcomes of other countries, as well as share its experience in coping with climate change with the international community. As one of the nations that will be seriously affected by climate change, rising sea levels and natural disasters, Vietnam has set a target of sustainable development in combination with effectively coping with climate change and disasters. Coping with climate change is not only good for Vietnam but also contributes to global efforts regarding the issue, he said, adding that the Vietnamese government has put forth a national target program and implementation strategy on coping with climate change along with the necessary legal framework.
