Olympic champions Jack Laugher and Chris Mears of England have won gold in the men’s synchronised three-metre springboard at the Commonwealth Games. The victory saw Laugher complete a Gold Coast hat-trick with his fifth Commonwealth title, after two at Glasgow 2014, including the synchronised 3m event with Mears. The English pair scored 436.17 as silver went to Canada’s Philippe Gagne and Francois Imbeau-Dulac (415.23) and bronze to Australia’s Domonic Bedggood and Matthew Carter (408.12). It was the third gold medal of the Gold Coast competition for Laugher, who triumphed in the three-metres and one-metre springboards earlier this week, despite facing injuries before the Games. After picking up his third career Commonwealth gold, the 23-year-old Yorkshireman said: “This is my job, something I love and do every day. “I don’t feel like I should be responsible for winning every time but I should be responsible for going out there and trying to make my nation proud by putting in 100 per cent attitude and everything to try to get medals.” Earlier today, Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow took home the gold for England in the men’s synchronised 10 metres platform.
