The long and torturous process of wresting control of Liverpool Football Club from the paralysing grip of Tom Hicks and George Gillett was complete. Just hours from administration and potential financial ruin, a bitter court battle across two continents fell in the favour of New England Sports Ventures, a Boston-based group which would soon be known as Fenway Sports Group. The struggles under Hicks and Gillett are well-told, well-documented and, now, well forgotten. The end result is what mattered most.
