Piers Morgan has hit out at retiring England legend Alastair Cook. The opening batsman will call time on his international cricket career following the fifth and final Test against India at the Oval, which starts on Friday. Morgan has been an outspoken critic of Cook due to the TV personality’s perception that England’s record run scorer ‘ruined’ the career of Kevin Pietersen. Pietersen, who is a close personal friend of Morgan, was exiled from the England team under Cook’s captaincy. Morgan claims he was ‘bored to tears’ by Cook’s attritional style of batting, and that he hasn’t scored important runs for England ‘for years’. The Good Morning Britain presenter tweeted: “Farewell Alastair Cook. “I’ll be honest: I can’t forgive him for wrecking @KP24’s England career, he bored me to tears as a batsman, has barely scored an important Test run for years & it’s weird he never sweats.
