Michelle Obama ripped into US President Donald Trump in her virtual address to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and slammed his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Stating that she wanted to be as 'honest and clear' as she possibly could, the former first lady declared Trump the 'wrong president for our country'. She went on to share how the nation had changed since her husband Barack Obama left office four years ago. She said: '[Trump] has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is.' The phrase 'it is what it is' echoes Trump's own words earlier this month when he responded to the country's soaring coronavirus death toll.
