The incident occurred in the 46th over of Pakistan’s second innings on Saturday (August 8), when Broad used inappropriate language after dismissing spinner Yasir Shah. As such, the Englishman was found in violation of the Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.” The demerit point added to his disciplinary record takes Broad’s tally to three since it’s his third offence in a 24-month period.
