The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Tom Brady have agreed to a contract extension, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported Friday morning on Twitter. Brady will stay in Tampa Bay on a new four-year deal that voids to one, keeping the Bucs signal-caller under contract through 2022. “The Tom-Brady extension saves the Buccaneers $19 million against the cap this year, per sources,” Schefter said in a quote-tweet follow-up to the original news. “The additional voidable years are there to defray the cost. It was another effort from Brady to keep as much of the team together as possible.” Brady, who turns 44 on Aug. 3, originally signed with the Bucs last March via a two-year pact for $50 million — all guaranteed, including another $9 million in incentives. A report Jan. 9 by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport first mentioned that Brady planned to play for the Bucs in 2021. “I would definitely consider that,” Brady said Feb. 1 when asked about playing beyond 45. “I think, again, it’s a physical sport and the perspective I have on that is you never know when that moment is.
