The US has said it stands in “unshakeable alliance with Australia” – after China said a new security deal between the two countries and Britain “intensifies the arms race”. On Wednesday, the three western powers announced they will establish a security partnership called AUKUS that will help Australia acquire US nuclear-powered submarines.
