Vietnam to receive 150 mln Covid-19 vaccine doses by 2022
The vaccines would come from British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca, global vaccine access mechanism Covax and other domestic producers. The reception schedule and number of doses received was reported by the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control to the government Wednesday. The first batch, delivered Wednesday, was 117,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses from AstraZeneca. They would be prioritized for those on the frontline of the pandemic fight, including medical workers, doctors, nurses, contact tracers and officials of Covid-19 prevention and control committees. The second batch, expected to arrive within the first half of this year, would comprise 1.5 million additional doses, of which 1.2 million are provided by Covax and the rest by AstraZeneca. HCMC sets up security cameras at Covid-19 quarantine facilities
Healthcare centers in each district have been requested to set up a CTTV camera system at centralized quarantine facilities and make sure all footage could be extracted to help monitor suspected Covid-19 carriers currently in isolation. All records of a quarantined person, as well as of the inspection and supervision process, must be kept at the quarantine camp, the department said. To cope with infection spread, HCMC has been operating 52 centralized quarantine facilities that offer a total 4,500 beds across different districts aside from a dormitory of 10,000 beds at the Vietnam National University in Thu Duc City. The city now has five medical facilities for Covid-19 treatment that can provide 1,955 beds in total. VN-Index up with marginal recovery
The index was mostly in the green in the morning but saw several dips to the 1,150 range in the afternoon before ending with a 3.42-point gain. Trading volume on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE), on which the index is based, plunged 11 percent to VND13.35 trillion ($582 million). The bourse saw 220 stocks gain and 214 lose. ACB of Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), VIC of top private conglomerate Vingroup and GAS of state-owned PetroVietnam Gas Jsc contributed the most to the index’s latest gain.
