A woman has revealed how her sister told her she would be ruining her daughter's life "from the moment she draws breath" if she sticks with her choice of baby name. In an anonymous post on Reddit , the woman explained that after years of trying for a baby, she and her husband have fallen pregnant. After thinking long and hard, the couple finally settled on the name Lyra (pronounced Lie-ra) for their baby girl, which they loved. A brutal dad who punished his daughter by making her perform "cruel" exercises for hours on end has been jailed. The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was left with carpet burns after being forced to do 'the caterpillar', a court heard. Her dad made her push her whole body up then straight down to the floor to move as well as other exercises, it was said. The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter, was said to have enforced the punishments over alleged bullying in the family. POLICE have rescued a 12-year-old girl allegedly sold by her parents so they could pay off a £3,500 debt. The schoolgirl is said to have burst into tears after she was saved following more than a month in captivity. And officials are now investigating what happened, with claims that her parents, who live in the southern Spanish city of Cordoba, agreed to sell her because they couldn’t pay back moneylenders they had borrowed cash from. Part of the deal they allegedly did was that the youngster would be married off to the teenager who was among the three people arrested. Investigators are probing whether the men who bought her sexually abused her to prove she was a virgin before a forced marriage to an 18-year-old.
