Stuff Circuit's documentary Deleted exposes New Zealand business and political links to a Chinese company involved in human rights violations against Uyghurs and investigates the extrajudicial imprisonment of the brother of a Uyghur New Zealander. Business incubator Icehouse Ventures has pulled out of a partnership with a Chinese company blacklisted by the US for its role in human rights abuses, following an investigation by Stuff Circuit . The investigation exposed government backing of New Zealand entities partnering with the Chinese artificial intelligence giant, whose technology is used in the surveillance of Uyghurs in Xinjiang, China. The board of Icehouse Ventures launched its own investigation and has ended the partnership, said chief executive Robbie Paul. Paul said they had “learned a lot through this review, and acknowledge there is more to learn” in supporting start-up businesses to break into the China market.
