The reports of a possible rift between Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been doing the rounds for quite some time now but Shastri dismissed it as ‘brilliant chaat and bhel puri for the media’. Shastri and Ganguly had a public fallout in 2016 when the former reapplied for coach’s job and the latter was a part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which selected Anil Kumble for the position. In 2017, Shastri got back the job after Kumble resigned following his much-publicised difference of opinion with skipper Virat Kohli.“He [Ganguly] took over Indian cricket at the most troubled times. You needed the faith of the people to come back. What he has done as a cricketer... I have the utmost respect. If people think I don’t respect that, to hell with them. As far as the Sourav-Shastri game that goes, that’s brilliant chaat and bhel puri for the media,” Ravi Shastri said in the latest episode … [Read more...] about Ravi Shastri has his say on reports of rift with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly

BCCI finally comes under NADA, officially becomes National Sports Federation
Sports Secretary Radheshyam Jhulaniya, who along with NADA DG Navin Agarwal met BCCI CEO Rahul Johri along with the Board's GM (Cricket Operations) Saba Karim here on Friday, said that the Board has given in writing that it would adhere to the anti-doping policy of NADA. "All cricketers will now be tested by NADA," Jhulaniya said. The implication of this development is expected to be massive as BCCI now becomes a designated NSF and will face a more pressure to come under the Right To Information (RTI) Act as per government norms. "The BCCI raised three issues before us about the quality of the dope testing kits, competence of pathologists and sample collection. We assured them that whatever facilities they want, we will provide but there will be some charge for it. But that higher facility will be equal for all NSFs. BCCI is no different from others. They have to follow the law of the land," Jhulaniya said. "The BCCI will agree to the law of the land," said Johri, adding, "We have … [Read more...] about BCCI finally comes under NADA, officially becomes National Sports Federation

While NADA is not expected to test any players during the ongoing opening game between India Blue and India Green teams in Bengaluru, there is a possibility of carrying out a few tests during the next game which starts on August 23. The BCCI, on its part, handed the full itinerary of the domestic games for the season, including the dates and venues, so that the NADA can prepare its cricket testing calendar. "The Duleep Trophy has already started and probably they will be coming for later matches. They haven't specified whether they are planning target testing or random testing. Tendulkar’s No. 10 Jersey Retired, Unofficially, By BCCI After Players Refuse To Wear It
Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket in 2013. © AFP The No.10 jersey that Sachin Tendulkar made his own may not be seen on an Indian player in the near future with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) claiming that cricketers are not ready to take that number out of respect for the legendary batsman, this despite the absence of any plan to formally retire it. Tendulkar retired in 2013 and since then, the No.10 jersey has only been worn by Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur on his ODI debut during the tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year. The 26-year-old was trolled on social media for his choice and later went on to issue a clarification, stating that he picked the number for numerological reasons."It's a very individual choice. If players don't want to wear a certain number, one can't force them. ICC might just tell you that a team can't officially retire a jersey but it would never tell you that it's mandatory to wear that number," a BCCI … [Read more...] about Tendulkar’s No. 10 Jersey Retired, Unofficially, By BCCI After Players Refuse To Wear It
