New Zealand concerned as Goodhue added to All Blacks injury list

· April 15, 2021 ·

WELLINGTON: New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has warned that the intensity of the domestic Super Rugby Aotearoa competition is not sustainable after All Blacks midfielder Jack Goodhue was ruled out for the entire 2021 season with a serious knee injury. The last two weeks of the bruising, five-team competition has taken a heavy toll, with Canterbury Crusaders' Goodhue joining All Blacks captain Sam Cane and loose forward Ardie Savea on the sidelines, while prop Joe Moody is also under an injury cloud. "We don't want to read too much into two weeks but we know that playing that standard and intensity of rugby year on year is not really sustainable for our players," NZR Professional Rugby and Performance boss Chris Lendrum told local radio station Gold AM. "As a competition, as fans we love it, right? "But we're looking forward to a more balanced programme for those players next year where we have Australian teams in the mix and hopefully these Pasifika teams in the mix, so you're … [Read more...] about New Zealand concerned as Goodhue added to All Blacks injury list

· April 15, 2021 ·

THIS child's drawing showing what appears to be blood-soaked walls was at the heart of a horror court case which heard how a five-year-old girl was tortured to death by her parents. The chilling nursery school sketch - seen as a cry for help - shows an adult standing in a house with red stains on the ceiling as well as "blood" running down the walls and pooling on the floor. Tragic Chen Ruilin's drawing was shown as a court heard her abuse included being thrown into the air so her head smashed on the ceiling - leaving injuries discovered when she was hospitalised one last time before she died. It was just one of the exhibits made available during a month of heartbreaking testimony from family members, teachers and doctors into the shocking abuse suffered by the young victim at the family home. When she finally died, doctors in Hong Kong found she had more than 130 new and historic wounds on her tiny body raising questions as to why the abuse had not been spotted by the … [Read more...] about Girl, 5, tortured to death by parents drew picture of blood-soaked home but was ignored by cops weeks before death

Miami GP resolution passes vote, despite local resident opposition

· April 15, 2021 ·

The new Mayor of Miami Gardens, Rodney Harris, sponsored the fresh bid to host the event. On Wednesday night, City commissioners heard nearly two hours of complaints from local residents, who opposed the plans for a race in their community, before voting in favour of going ahead with the project. The resolution will lead to a memorandum of understanding between the city, the Miami Dolphins organization and Formula 1 to hold the race on a purpose-built circuit around the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Dolphins NFL team. Residents’ activist leader Brenda Martin Providence told WSVN: “Our city council has flip-flopped on us, and it makes us very angry. [They] decided to go into negotiations, and we just want them to know nothing with us has changed. We just don’t want it in our neighbourhood.” The new plan pledges $5million to fund community benefits programs and businesses in the city, and a STEM program for local children that F1 will implement. “This is a billion-dollar … [Read more...] about Miami GP resolution passes vote, despite local resident opposition
