MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The first federal vaccination site in Miami-Dade is now open and it is among the first in the nation to administer the Johnson & Johnson single dose COVID-19 vaccine. Located on Miami-Dade College‘s North Campus at 11380 NW 27th Avenue in Miami, it is one of four new federal vaccination sites statewide. 600 Seniors From Hard-Hit Areas, With Limited Access To Resources Vaccinated Against COVID-19 In Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA) — Seniors without access to transportation or the technical tools required to sign up for vaccines received their coronavirus shot on Friday as part of a partnership with a hospital and the city of Huntington Beach. “To have that partnership… we were able to do a lot of outreach and connect with these seniors who are maybe not able to get a vaccine as easy as other people,” said Huntington Beach Mayor Kim Carr. About 600 people 65 and older got the vaccine. It was part of an effort across the Southland and state of California to make sure the vaccine is available to every eligible person who wants it, regardless of their income or accessibility to resources. The seniors who received the vaccine on Friday came from the Oakview community, which is one of the hardest-hit areas of Orange County. New programme to develop future nurse leaders for community care sector
SINGAPORE - Mid-level nurses will have a new programme starting next year to help develop their leadership skills to take on more roles in the community care sector. The Singapore Nurse Leaders Programme (SNLP), jointly developed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Healthcare Leadership College, will focus on developing nurses to have a better understanding of the sector, which includes nursing homes, senior care centres and day rehabilitation facilities. MOH said with its strategic shifts from hospital to community, there is a need for nurse leaders to understand the perspectives of both acute and community nursing. "With this, they can take on broader leadership roles and lead care across the acute and community care sectors," MOH said in a statement. Three new classrooms built at Rolleston College in just 18 days
When Rolleston College needed extra space for its rapidly increasing roll, the Ministry of Education hired a local construction firm that built three new classrooms in just 18 days. The new teaching areas could accommodate 100 students and were needed as enrolments at the Canterbury school had increased from 220 to 1316 in just five years. Rolleston is one of the South Island’s fastest growing towns , with the population expected to reach 18,000 by 2025. The school opened in 2017 and was now at full capacity for the first time with year 13 students.
