Weekend curfew: Roads empty, markets shut in Delhi
Roads, markets, buses and metro trains were largely empty on Saturday as the national capital, grappling with soaring COVID-19 cases, observed weekend curfew, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealing to people to adhere to the restrictions. At 38.5% vaccinated, US may be running low on people eager for a shot
The US logged another 4 million or so vaccinations Friday, bringing the total doses administered in the country over 200 million at the time of writing. Over 127 million adults—38.5 percent of the US population—have received at least one shot. Over 80 million adults—24 percent of the US population—are now fully vaccinated. The seven-day rolling average of US vaccinations per day is now around 3.35 million and the Biden administration is on track to make its latest goal of 200 million vaccinations within the first 100 days in office. Province accused of violating Charter with inequitable vaccine rollout
Doug Ford’s government violated the Charter of Rights and Freedoms by not ensuring the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine was equitable and non-discriminatory, an Ontario court heard Friday. The argument was made by human rights lawyer David Baker, who is representing David Daneshvar , an Iranian refugee who has multiple disabilities and believes he has not been appropriately accommodated to receive the vaccine. But Baker’s arguments were much broader than Daneshvar’s individual case, arguing that the province’s vaccine rollout has not accommodated the needs of homebound seniors, those with limited computer access or literacy, and others who may not be able to book an appointment at pharmacies or mass vaccination sites for various reasons. 4 Days Reserved For Teachers Only At Massachusetts Mass Vaccination Sites
BOSTON (CBS) – Massachusetts is designating four days at its mass COVID vaccination sites for educators only in the upcoming weeks. Childcare workers and K-12 teachers and school staff become eligible to sign up for their COVID vaccine at all sites in the state on Thursday. Teachers can already sign up for CVS appointments through the federal pharmacy program.
