LAWRENCEVILLE (KDKA) — Residents in Lawrenceville had a rude awakening this morning. They were left stuck inside the house because somebody slashed the tires of several vehicles on one of the area’s main roads. On Main Street from Penn Avenue down to Butler Street, dozens of vehicles have tires slashed. Neighbors say they heard a commotion in the middle of the night, but by the time they came outside – the damage was already done. In Lawrenceville Saturday morning, residents quickly found out their plans for the day would have to change. “I wake up this morning and someone has gone up and down Main Street slashing all the tires,” said Harry Coukos, a Lawrenceville resident. They say a criminal should never return to the scene of a crime. But in this case, things might've gone better for him if he had. A woman in Maricopa, Arizona woke up on Thursday to find her driveway had become a violent crime scene overnight. Not only were her car's tires slashed, but she discovered a lone severed finger nearby, along with a trail of blood. According to Maricopa Monitor , someone had slashed two tires on one side of Francesca Wikoff's GMC Yukon, suggesting that the perpetrator might have been in the middle of the job when the accident took place. A bloody trail reportedly led from the vehicle to a nearby residence. Wikoff said she has her suspicions about who may have committed the unintentionally bloody crime. Specifically, she believes the culprit is an angry neighbor with who she and her husband had gotten into a disagreement just the night before. MACON : A tire plant will spend $21.8 million to expand production in middle Georgia. Kumho Tire and Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller announced the expansion Thursday. The plant, which opened with a capacity of about 4 million tires a year, will be able to make another 500,000 tires a year. Local news outlets report a groundbreaking is supposed to be held in May for the 20,000 square-foot (1,850 square-meter) expansion. The original $600 million plant opened in May 2016, hiring 400 people. The plant will include a new automated production unit, a proprietary Kumho system that's supposed to help boost efficiency. Seoul-based Kumho is the world's 18th largest tire maker, operating a total of eight tire plants in China, South Korea , Vietnam and the U.S. The Macon plant is the company's first American manufacturing facility.
