I’ve been working at SUNY New Paltz for over 15 years and I have to say, the students here have been a really good match for me. I find bright, inspiring students all the time. There are always students who are coming up to me asking what steps they can take to go above and beyond. A case-in-point pertains to our long-standing Undergraduate Psychology Association (UPA). This student club includes between about 15-40 volunteer members at any given time, who are always under stellar leadership. The club takes its charge seriously. The members of the club organize regular meetings during which they discuss possible initiatives. They invite professors and therapists to come talk about their work with the group. They help co-organize our departmental end-of-year trivia party and our annual departmental award ceremony and barbecue. They help the department organize major events that we hold with regularity.
