In an interview at Huawei headquarters in southern China, Ren Zhengfei said the U.S. ban has had a "pretty big impact" on the company, forcing it to scramble to redesign products to try to eliminate U.S. parts. He said Huawei is now producing telecom network equipment without U.S. chips or components, and has shipped such gear to more than 40 telecom companies, including some in Europe.
