HA NOI — FPT Technology Products Co Ltd will preload Facebook Apps for Java on FPT branded phones as of October. The move follows FPT's becoming an official "preferred developer consultant" for Facebook. Users will be able to log directly onto Facebook instead of using a web browser. Viettel dominates cable network in Cambodia HA NOI — Military-run telecom Viettel has deployed more than 16,000km of fibre optics for its Metfone network and is now has the biggest internet coverage in Cambodia. According to a report from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia (MPTC), cable network coverage in the country has increased 17 fold in five years. Metfone has 80 per cent of the network coverage in the country. Its network is 13 times greater than that of the entire cable network developed by Cambodia in the last 10 years. Bach Mai hospital opens cancer, heart centre for childrenBach Mai General Hospital opened a new 500-bed childhood cancer and heart centre at a ceremony in Hanoi on December 30. "The centre will dramatically help to ease the situation of patient overload at Bach Mai Hospital, especially in the emergency, cancer, kidney and respiratory, besides examination departments," Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said at the opening ceremony. The 21-storey new cancer and heart centre, with a total floor area of 45,000sq.m, has been built with a total investment of more than 1,300 billion VND (578 million USD). It is equipped with advanced medical facilities required for diagnosing and treating cancer and heart diseases in children. In early 2016, a book street was established in downtown Ho Chi Minh City in order to encourage citizens, especially youngsters, to read. The street, located on Nguyen Van Binh Street in District 1, is meant to nurture a reading culture through various activities and highlight the value and significance of books. Some foreigners have shared their point of view on the importance of reading, as well as their personal experience to encourage their children to fall in love with books.
