Mum’s cheap McDonald’s McFlurry hack dubbed a ‘game changer’ as she gets five for less than £3

· February 24, 2021 ·

AN Australian mum has shared her cheap McFlurry ordering hack which allows her to get five ice-cream treats for less than £3 In the UK a typical McFlurry from McDonald's would cost 99p, but in Australia its a whopping $5.10 (£2.86) - so that means she saves a huge $20 (£11.24) every time she orders. While the saving isn't as big based on UK prices, if you were to do the same you could still make a significant saving - and they are the perfect sizes for kids. Queensland mum Connie Hansen shared her McDonald’s ordering hack to the Facebook page Mums who Budget & Save where it attracted more than 2000 likes from impressed parents. Many praised the savvy trick as “genius” and “awesome”, but others said they had been ordering the McDonald's dessert this way for years Rather than buying a McFlurry for each of her kids, she'll ask for soft serve ice cream in a sundae lid with an extra side of M&Ms. Unlike the UK stores who offer a mini McFlurry for a discounted … [Read more...] about Mum’s cheap McDonald’s McFlurry hack dubbed a ‘game changer’ as she gets five for less than £3

SolarWinds, Microsoft, FireEye, CrowdStrike defend actions in major hack -U.S. Senate hearing

· February 24, 2021 ·

WASHINGTON, - Top executives at Texas-based software company SolarWinds Corp, Microsoft Corp and cybersecurity firms FireEye Inc and CrowdStrike Holdings Inc defended their conduct in breaches blamed on Russian hackers and sought to shift responsibility elsewhere in testimony to a U.S. Senate panel on Tuesday. All four were victims in one of the worst hacks yet discovered, affecting about 100 U.S. companies and nine federal agencies. SolarWinds and Microsoft programs were used to attack others. The executives argued for greater transparency and information-sharing about breaches, with liability protections and a system that does not punish those who come forward, similar to airline disaster investigations. Microsoft President Brad Smith and others told the U.S. Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence that the true scope of the latest intrusions is still unknown, because most victims are not legally required to disclose attacks unless they involve sensitive information … [Read more...] about SolarWinds, Microsoft, FireEye, CrowdStrike defend actions in major hack -U.S. Senate hearing

China hijacked NSA hacking tool to attack US citizens

· February 24, 2021 ·

New Delhi, In a daring incident, Chinese cybercriminals managed to steal, clone and use nation-grade cyber tools from none other than the US' National Security Agency (NSA) to attack US targets. The tool called "Jian" was actually a clone of software developed by the US National Security Agency (NSA)'s Equation Group, described as "one of the most sophisticated cyberattack groups in the world", according to a report by Check Point Research. "The caught-in-the-wild exploit of CVE-2017-0005, a 0-Day attributed by Microsoft to the Chinese APT31 (Zirconium), is in fact a replica of an Equation Group exploit code-named EpMe," the researchers said. Chinese bad actors had access to EpMe's files, both their 32-bits and 64-bits versions, more than two years before the infamous Shadow Brokers leak. In the Shadow Brokers leak, a mysterious group decided to publicly publish a wide range of cyber weapons allegedly developed by the Tailored Access Operations (TAO) unit of the NSA … [Read more...] about China hijacked NSA hacking tool to attack US citizens

Hackers Tied to Russia’s GRU Targeted the US Grid for Years, Researchers Warn

· January 2, 2021 ·

For all the nation state hacker groups that have targeted the United States power grid —and even successfully breached American electric utilities —only the Russian military intelligence group known as Sandworm has been brazen enough to trigger actual blackouts, shutting the lights off in Ukraine in 2015 and 2016 . Now one grid-focused security firm is warning that a group with ties to Sandworm’s uniquely dangerous hackers has also been actively targeting the US energy system for years. On Wednesday, industrial cybersecurity firm Dragos published its annual report on the state of industrial control systems security, which names four new foreign hacker groups focused on those critical infrastructure systems. Three of those newly named groups have targeted industrial control systems in the US, according to Dragos. But most noteworthy, perhaps, is a group that Dragos calls Kamacite, which the security firm describes as having worked in cooperation with the GRU's Sandworm. … [Read more...] about Hackers Tied to Russia’s GRU Targeted the US Grid for Years, Researchers Warn

Twitter Accused of ‘Double Standards’ in Issuing Warning Over Story on Secret UK Foreign Office Docs

· February 24, 2021 ·

Twitter has issued a warning in relation to a story about documents obtained from the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), revealing a vast propaganda and psyops network aimed at "isolating" and "destabilising" the Russian government. The warning, which reads "These materials may have been obtained through hacking", can be seen on any tweet sharing the story from The Grayzone independent media outlet, which, along with investigative journalist Kit Klarenberg via RT, published a detailed exposé on the revelations.
