The first target of the lawsuit is to clarify her damage in this incident. Diane Chung said in her lawsuit she was using the new handset on September 3 when it suddenly became "extremely hot," and then she stopped using the phone and placed it in her purse but soon heard "a whistling and screeching sound, and she noticed thick smoke" pouring from her purse. Chung had to remove the phone by emptying her purse onto an elevator floor, but the fire didn't stop until a passerby picked up the handset with a cloth and placed it into a bucket of water. After winning a landmark $1-billion patent infringement case, Apple Inc. is once again targetting Samsung Electronics Co. by taking aim at its rival's bestselling Galaxy S III phone. Apple on Friday amended a complaint, filed originally in Feburary, to include four more products to a list of Samsung gadgets that the Cupertino, Calif., tech giant says infringes on its patents. The list now includes the Galaxy Note smartphone as well as the Galaxy S III. In the complaint, Apple accuses Samsung of filling "the market with copycat products." The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has issued an instruction telling airlines to warn passengers against putting Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones in their luggage due to the risk of battery fires. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 The instruction also requires airlines to stop providing charging service for those phones during flights, citing the recommendation of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on September 8. In a court filing in California, Apple said the smartphones and tablets were found to have violated patents in a jury trial held last year. Apple renewed its bid for a permanent injunction on sales of a number of Samsung products after an appeals court decision last month cleared the way for a new hearing on the matter. In the latest filing dated on Thursday, Apple's attorneys wrote that the court "previously concluded that Samsung's sale of infringing products has irreparably harmed Apple."
