Vietnamese textile industry sees huge export opportunities

· March 8, 2021 ·

A production line at the The Ky Yarn Joint Stock Company (Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNS/VNA) - The textile and apparel industry , which managed to survive three waves of COVID-19 thanks to its decision to produce face masks and personal protective equipment, will focus on sportswear and yarn, according to the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group . Le Tien Truong, its general director, said demand for face masks and personal protective equipment will shrink rapidly. Armed with their experience of coping with the pandemic, many textile and footwear enterprises are quietly confident of altering plans when required and finding new markets to cope with new situation after COVID-19 is under control. Sportswear has arguably been the most successful segment during the pandemic as awareness of physical exercise rose. How to Stay Mentally Resilient During and After the Pandemic

· February 15, 2021 ·

American mental health was already dicey before COVID-19 walloped our hearts and minds, and medical and mental health experts warn that we should be prepared for more to come long after life settles into whatever the post-pandemic “normal” will be. Before the pandemic, 1 in 5 Americans (47 million) already had a diagnosable mental illness, more than 11 million of them serious, according to the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). In 2020, the Kaiser Family Foundation reported a huge jump in the percentage of U.S. adults—from 32 percent, when COVID-19 came to full public awareness in March, to 52 percent in August—who said that worry and stress over the coronavirus had negatively impacted their mental health. From 1 in 10 Americans reporting symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder before the pandemic, the number climbed to 1 in 3. Self-care is more important than ever during, and after, COVID-19. It helps keep the parts … [Read more...] about How to Stay Mentally Resilient During and After the Pandemic

I Voted Trump. I’m Willing to Give Biden a Shot—If He Delivers on COVID Relief | Opinion

· March 4, 2021 ·

Laid off. That's not something I ever expected for myself, but here I am, going from making $100,000 a year at a union oil drilling job to making a staggering 70 percent less each paycheck—when I can find work, that is. I proudly voted for Donald Trump in November, but now, I'm counting on President Joe Biden to deliver a relief plan that helps us get through this pandemic and recover. I'm a West Virginian, born and raised. Originally from New Martinsville, I now live in Paden City with my wife and three teenage kids. I always believed that if I just worked hard, I would be able to provide for my family and have a good life. That was true for a while. For most of my adult life, I worked as an oil drilling technician. It was a good union job that paid enough for all our basic needs and a little extra. Then COVID hit, and I was laid off. I immediately started looking for another job. I spent all day looking for work, sending out four or five applications daily, hearing back … [Read more...] about I Voted Trump. Covid-19: PM Jacinda Ardern will be publicly vaccinated prior to general population

· March 7, 2021 ·

Breakfast The Prime Minister last week urged Kiwis to call out family or work colleagues not following the rules. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will publicly receive the Covid-19 vaccine before the general population in a bid to prove its long-term safety. Ardern, speaking to the AM Show on Monday, said she would receive the vaccine before the middle of 2021, when officials expect to be inoculating the public. “I'll do it publicly and for those interested they can watch it. I've been really mindful of not taking a vaccine from someone else who it's really critical for ... There are people who are at risk and I'm not one of them. “I do want to demonstrate that it's not only safe to take at the time but long term it's safe, and so I will do it early on ... before we start the mass rollout.” READ MORE: Travel bubble gamechanger: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern delivers huge boost for chances of Australia travel bubble Covid-19: Controlling the vaccine campaign … [Read more...] about Covid-19: PM Jacinda Ardern will be publicly vaccinated prior to general population
