West Indies were chasing a steep target on a surface which was not entirely easy to play free-flowing strokes. However, they literally strolled to the target, they never looked challenged as they breached the target of 288 with ridiculous ease. Here in this article, we take a look at the three reasons why India lost this match.Indifferent startAfter losing the toss, Indian captain Virat Kohli said that he wanted to bat first as he expected the surface to slow down. However, his side did not get off to an entirely bright start as KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were back in the hut. Although Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer stitched together a 100-run stand, the rather slow start in the first 10 overs came back to hurt India.ALSO READ: Kohli not pleased after Jadeja gets out in dramatic mannerNot enough penetration in the middle oversIndia did not include Yuzvendra Chahal in the playing XI and hence, Kohli was forced to use Shivam Dube and Kedar Jadhav as the fifth bowling … [Read more...] about India vs West Indies: Selection mistake? 3 reasons why Virat Kohli and team lost Chennai ODI

Never seen it happen in cricket – Kohli on Jadeja’s controversial run out
The incident took place in the 48th over when Jadeja attempted for a quick single and the fielder effected a direct hit at the striker's end. Although Jadeja appeared to be short of his crease, the on-field umpire Shaun George did not give it out and neither did West Indies players appeal. However, the on-field umpire made a late referral to the third umpire after the dismissal was shown on the big screen. Hence, Kohli expressed his displeasure at Jadeja's dismissal. "The thought is simple, the fielder asked 'how is that' and the umpire said 'not out'. The dismissal ends there. The people sitting on the TV outside cannot tell the fielders to then tell the umpire to review it again. I've never seen that happen in cricket," said Kohli following India's eight-wicket loss. "I don't know where the rules are, where the line is drawn. I think the referee and the umpires have to take that up, see that incident again. And figure out what needs to be done in cricket. People sitting outside can't … [Read more...] about Never seen it happen in cricket – Kohli on Jadeja’s controversial run out
Opposites Hetmyer and Hope find the perfect balance for West Indies
4:16 AM GMTDeivarayan Muthu in ChennaiFacebookTwitterFacebook MessengerPinterestEmailprintA near-unstoppable force combined with an almost-immovable object at Chepauk as West Indies overhauled India's 287, ruthlessly exposing a depleted attack. Shimron Hetmyer was that unstoppable force, smashing a 106-ball 139, while Shai Hope held on limpet-like, making an unbeaten 102 off 151 balls.Their 218-run stand had West Indies marry power with smarts, something that had cost them in the 50-over World Cup earlier this year. When Hetmyer joined Hope, the wicketkeeper-opener was on 2 off 17 balls. He wasn't struggling, though. Hope looked unhurried and he always prefers batting in his own bubble. Hetmyer knows that, and he went on a boundary-hitting spree at the other end to ensure the asking rate was within West Indies' grasp.Hetmyer set to work by slashing Mohammed Shami over slip in the sixth over and, three balls later, he top-edged a hook over the keeper's head for four. It didn't always … [Read more...] about Opposites Hetmyer and Hope find the perfect balance for West Indies
Pakistan’s Abid makes history with ton in drawn test vs SL
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan opening batsman Abid Ali made history on his debut by scoring a century in the rain-affected drawn first test against Sri Lanka on Sunday. Abid scored an unbeaten 109 off 201 balls to become the first batsman in international cricket to score a hundred in both his ODI and test match debuts. Pakistan’s premier player Babar Azam also continued his rich batting form and made an unbeaten 102 off 128 balls as Pakistan scored 252-2 before the match ended. Sri Lanka had earlier declared their first innings at 308-6 in bright sunshine after bad weather badly affected the first four days of Pakistan’s first test at home in more than 10 years. “We came two days before the test and we’ve done a really good job,” Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne said. “Hopefully it won’t rain and we get five days of cricket (in Karachi). I want to thank all the Pakistan fans, they supported us as well. In other countries you … [Read more...] about Pakistan’s Abid makes history with ton in drawn test vs SL
