Singer Shaan who has crooned many melodious songs in the last two decades, trashed rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's songs like 'Lungi Dance', 'Chaar Bottle Vodka', 'Sunny Sunny', etc., and said that these songs are popular among youth because anyone can sing them, but sadly, there's no musicality in them. In an interview with AskMen India, Shaan said, "Music ki samajh kitne logon ke paas hai? Bohot kum. Hum sabko musically educate toh nahi kar sakte lekin hum itna kar sakte hai ki aap apni taraf se good music dete rahe ki dheere dheere ek taste banega. Lekin sabse aasaan tareeka yeh hai ki main aapke sthar pe utar jaaun (Very few people actually understand music. We cannot musically educate everyone but what we can do is churn out good music so that people develop a taste for it. But the easiest way is to stoop down to their level)." He further added, "Aaj rap music itna popular kyun hai? Hume lagta hai gaali de raha hai, isliye? Nahi, usme koi musicality hai hi … [Read more...] about Shaan Trashes Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Songs; Says Anyone Can Sing Them

Song You Need to Know: Chubby and the Gang, ‘Lightning Don’t Strike Twice’
Rock & roll is often at its best when exploding dead-ends into infinite possibilities. This is no easy trick. It requires a healthy dose of optimism and some wholly irrational belief, but also a clear-eyed understanding of how cold and indifferent reality, and those with the power to shape it, can be. “Lightning Don’t Strike Twice,” the new single from London outfit Chubby and the Gang , contends more with this latter half of the equation, while still refusing to relinquish any of that earlier hope. Chubby and the Gang’s 2020 debut Speed Kills was, for the most part, a breathless barrage befitting that title. “Lightning Don’t Strike Twice” doesn’t let up any of that energy, but it finds Chubby and the Gang expanding the boundaries of their sound: a swampy slide guitar sets the stage for the breakneck riffs that follow, while the chorus finds the eponymous Gang bellowing pub-rock-style over frontman Charles Manning’s weathered howl. ’10 Second Songs’ Singer Enlists Fans for First Original Track
After spinning hits like Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” and Ariana Grande’s “Problem” into patchwork pop quilts, Ten Second Songs mastermind Anthony Vincent enlisted his fans for the latest edition of his series of songs sung in 20 different styles. “City Street” is Vincent’s latest, and first original, composition. The song was co-written with fans, who contributed individual lines via YouTube and Facebook comments complete with the artist they wanted Vincent to imitate. The track is centered around a chorus Vincent wrote about driving around in his ratty Hyundai Sonata “singing songs in different melodies just because I wanna.” While he kicks off “City Street” in an unspecified arena rock fashion, he’s immediately tasked with aping the likes of Prince and Tool, as the fan-written lyrics appear on-screen. ’10 Second Songs’ Singer Celebrates Valentine’s Day as 20 Artists
Following up his take on Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for Christmas and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” for Halloween , Ten Second Songs ‘ Anthony Vincent sticks with the holiday theme by covering 20 love songs in 20 different styles in time for Valentine’s Day. Beginning with Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” Vincent changed up his style of covering one song in multiple styles by doing a chain of 20 covers by 20 different artists, all in the style of the artist who would get covered next. For example, Vincent covers Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” in the style of the Beatles before that group’s “Something” becomes a hair metal ballad sung by Bon Jovi. Over the course of the clip, Vincent sings Queen’ “Somebody to Love” as Tupac, Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” as Hozier (in a dead-on imitation) and Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You” in the style of Type O Negative, among others. By the end, Vincent circles back to Sheeran to sing Rick Astley’s “Never … [Read more...] about ’10 Second Songs’ Singer Celebrates Valentine’s Day as 20 Artists
When a Homeless Man Refuses to Give Up
I am not in awe of very many people. I have seen the flaws in human nature too often to be that impressed by most people. Still, there are occasional exceptions. On my way to and from the campus where I teach, I often pass through a poorer area that has a sprinkling of homeless men and women sprawled across a small park. In truth, it isn’t really a park. It’s a narrow strip of green grass that had been temporarily spared from further development of low-cost apartment buildings. The homeless people who frequent the park come and go. None of them seem to take up permanent residence there—except for one. At first I took little notice of him. He was as nondescript as all the others. Only after he stayed, while all the others seemed to pass through, did I notice something unique about him. From my car, he appeared to be a large, barrel-chested man who wore several layers of clothing, probably his entire wardrobe. Covering the layers of clothing was a purple and gray, patterned poncho. … [Read more...] about When a Homeless Man Refuses to Give Up
