11M FDI disbursement up year-on-year
Total disbursement of foreign direct investment in the first eleven months of this year stood at $14.3 billion, up 8.3 per cent year-on-year, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). FDI disbursement up 8.3% in first eleven months while capital falls 10.5%. New and additional FDI capital totaled $18.1 billion, representing 89.5 per cent of the figure in the same period of 2015. As at November 20, 2,240 new projects had been granted investment licenses with total registered capital of $13 billion, equal to 96.1 per cent of the figure in the same period last year, while 1,075 existing projects added $5.07 billion in capital, equal to 76.1 per cent. Export turnover in the FDI sector (including crude oil) in the first eleven months was $114.1 billion, up 8.6 per cent compared to the same period last year and accounting for 71.5 per cent of the total. Wounded war veterans are allowed to use one vehicle of this kind which meet technical standards. From July 1, all three and four-wheeler vehicles which fail to meet required standards will be banned. Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam continued to make a trade surplus of US$3.39 billion in the first five months of 2018, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO). The foreign direct investment (FDI) sector, including fuel, took the lead with a surplus of $13.78 billion. The country’s export turnover increased by 15.8 per cent year-on-year to $93.09 billion in the first five months, of which the domestic-invested sector reached $26.43 billion, up by 17 per cent, while the FDI sector (including fuel) earned $66.66 billion, rising by 15 per cent and occupying 71.6 per cent of the country’s total exports. Major export products posting encouraging earnings included electronics and computers worth $10.9 billion, up by 14.2 per cent; mobile phones and components, which were valued at $19.5 billion, up by 19.8 per cent; and machinery, equipment and parts amounting to $6.4 billion, up by 29.7 per cent. Garments top export list Vietnam tops the list of pepper exporters The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development says that the growth was thanks to an increase in export volume to make up for a decline in prices in most consumer markets. Exports of agricultural products were estimated at US$7.7 billion (up 9.6 percent); seafood at US$2.9 billion (up 10.6 percent) and forestry products at US$2.3 billion (up 22.9 percent). But all of seven key agricultural products, except pepper, have gone down in price. In the first two quarters of this year, Vietnam shipped 3.7 million tonnes of rice and earned US$1.7 billion, down 8.8 percent in volume and 13.5 percent in value. The average rice price was US$464 per tonne, down 5.7 percent. By far, China has been the largest importer of Vietnamese rice, followed by Malaysia, with imports rising almost 20 percent compared to a year earlier.
