Viet Nam News HCM CITY — HCM City is seeking further support from international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) in socio-economic development, said authorities at the annual meeting between the HCM City Steering Board for INGO Affairs and INGOs held on June 7 in the city. The meeting discussed INGOs’ societal contributions between 2015 and 2017, reviewed INGO activities last year as well as the first five months of the year, and sought feedback from INGOs. Western, Arab countries pledge more support to Syrian opposition
Several governments have pledged more political and material support for the Syrian National Coalition (SNC), which the West considers the sole legitimate representative of the Syrian people. In a joint statement, 11 countries attending the international conference of the so-called “Friends of Syria” in Rome on Thursday called for an immediate halt to arms supplies to the Bashar al-Assad government. US scientists support claim from AO victims
Vietnam ’s victims of agent orange/dioxin (AO) are hoping to receive more spiritual and material support from US scientists in their fight for justice. Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA), Tran Xuan Thu, made this remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the American Public Health Association, part of the Vietnam Agent Orange Relief and Responsibility Campaign, in Hanoi on June 5. He applauded the active efforts made by the association in the past to help Vietnamese AO victims. The delegation, led by Susan M. Schnall, who played an active part in the peace movement that protested against the war in Vietnam , is made up of several specialists with backgrounds in medicine, chemicals or public health. (VOVworld) – 22-year-old Sajmir Alimehmeti of the Bronx, New York was arrested on Tuesday for attempting to provide material support to Islamic State. Sajmir Alimehmeti was arrested at his Bronx residence where authorities found an IS flag, a martial arts weapon and combat-survival knives. They also found a passport wrapped in 2,400 dollars cash, a sum that the police said correlated with an amount Alimehmeti had claimed to have saved to travel to Syria to join Islamic State. Federal Bureau of Investigation and New York Police Department officials posing as Islamic State sympathizers began meeting with Alimehmeti after the United Kingdom twice denied him entry in 2014.During his second attempt, when he arrived at Heathrow Airport, authorities discovered numerous images of Islamic State flags and bomb attacks on his cellphone. The department urged the city to develop incentive policies for support industries, especially for engineering, electronics and garments, and encourage local enterprises to use domestic technology, machinery and materials. To help businesses, the department said it had provided capital, business space, IT application and re-investment for new technology.
