A man received a positive COVID-19 test result on Sunday in Bac Lieu Province, located in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, following a medical check-up required by his potential employer. This is considered a suspected case because the Ministry of Health has yet to register it. The case in question is T.V.T., 49, who hails from Soc Trang Province, also located in the Mekong Delta, according to a report by the Bac Lieu Center for Disease Control. T. claimed to have never left his hometown nor had any contact with coronavirus patients or suspected cases in the last 14 days. On Saturday, T. and six other people traveled on motorbikes to a wind power company in Bac Lieu City, which is the provincial capital, to seek jobs. The Mekong River delta, known as the ‘rice bowl’ of Vietnam, is home to beautiful flower villages. These are prime tourist destinations in the Southeast Asian country. The largest flower village in the Mekong Delta region is Sa Dec, in the Dong Thap province. This village is 100 years old and is the largest flower supplier in southern Vietnam. Its residents earn a living mainly by growing flowers and ornamental trees. Considered the floral capital of the Mekong Delta, Sa Dec is home to around 2,500 floral varieties. These are grown across a total area of 600 hectares according to local newspapers. Flowers grow all year round in bamboo baskets on elevated racks above water in Sa Dec. Dong Thap convenes urgent meeting on positive Covid-19 illicit immigrants
The Covid-19 illegal immigrant is a woman who is being under quarantine in a centralized ward in Hong Ngu District. Dong Thap authority asked the health sector to track down and isolate all close contacts of the woman and F2 contacts would be required to isolate at home. The illegal immigrant hailing from the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho arrived in Cambodia to work for a casino in Cambodia. According to authority’s investigation, she and another woman illegally entered Vietnam on February 23 and stayed in a rental house in Tan Hong District in Dong Thap Province. On the same night, the two women were detected to take them to centralized isolation centers taking samples for testing. Test results conducted by Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City have shown that the woman was positive for SARS-CoV-2 while the other woman was negative. Vietnam needs over US$128 billion for power investment next 10 years A drone is used to inspect a power transmission system in Vietnam. The country will need an estimated US$128.3 billion for developing the power system in the next decade The Institute of Energy, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on February 22 continued to collect feedback over the plan from the relevant agencies. According to the plan, during the 10-year period, Vietnam will need to pour some US$12.8 billion on average into the power sector per year. The total investment for the following 15 years from 2031 to 2045 will be some US$192 billion, including some US$140 billion for power sources and US$52 billion for the grid. MPI proposes a draft decree on procurement bidding under CPTTP MPI proposes a draft decree on procurement bidding under CPTTP The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has summited to the Government a draft decree on amending Decree 95/2020/ND-CP providing guidelines on procurement bidding under the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTTP). According to the MPI, the draft decree will amend and supplement some articles of Decree No 95. It aims to guide State companies to execute bidding packages under the CPTTP agreement and EU-Việt Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). However, per the Government's Resolution No 190/NQ-CP on the provisional application of the UK-Việt Nam FTA (UKVFTA), Việt Nam agreed to temporarily apply the UKVFTA from January 1, 2021.
