HA NOI — Viet Nam provided favourable conditions for agricultural investors, especially those from the private sector, said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Cao Duc Phat yesterday. "Viet Nam has created many favourable conditions, including exempting land rent and value added taxes," Phat told participants at the Public-Private Partnership Forum Investment Opportunities in Agro-Industries in Viet Nam, which was co-organised by MARD and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He said small enterprises would be able to access human resources training. "When compared to other countries in the region, Viet Nam has cheap labour, a stable political and social environment, and is a safe investment destination for foreign investors," said Phat. Prime Minister: agriculture restructuring to be boosted
(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said that a greater effort is needed to accelerate agriculture restructuring towards creating products of higher value. He said it would also help Vietnam achieve sustainable development and build a new rural model. He told an agricultural conference in Hanoi on Tuesday that farmers should form the core of agriculture restructuring and new rural model building. To do this, he suggested the sector introduce effective policies and step up the application of scientific and technological advances, especially bio-technology and information technology that is designed to improve agricultural management and rural modernization. ADB assists transport, agriculture, disadvantaged children and irrigation development
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide 1.1 billion USD in loans to help Vietnam upgrade the Noi Bai-Lao Cai section of the Kunming-Hai Phong transport corridor. An agreement on the biggest single project financing in the history of the ADB was signed in Hanoi on Sept. 26 between the bank and the Vietnamese government. The 244-km highway is an integral section of the eastern link of the Great Mekong Subregion (GMS) Northern Economic Corridor, which connects Kunming city in China's Yunnan province with Hanoi and the ports of Hai Phong and Cai Lan in Vietnam. It will help reduce the volume of traffic passing through the cities and towns along the road, which could significantly reduce the number of traffic accidents. Canada sends international trade minister to Vietnam
Canadian international trade minister Ed Fast will travel to Vietnam August 26-28 to help strengthen Canada’s trade and investment ties with Asia. Fast will take this opportunity to drive his country’s success in priority markets, which include Asia. The minister was scheduled to meet with Hi Chi Minh City leaders, visit the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and engage in roundtable discussions in the southern economic hub with Canadian business leaders. On August 14, Fast released the final report of the Advisory Panel on Canada’s International Education Strategy (IES). The report recommends focusing on growth markets, including Vietnam. The Canadian Government will review the advisory panel’s recommendations, prior to a formal response and implementation plan for Canada’s IES. Vietnam viewed as RoK key market for agricultural exports
Nhan Dan Online- Vietnam is a prime market for Korean agricultural exports, said Kim Kwang-Hoe, councilman of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly at a press conference in Hanoi on October 3. He made the statement while hosting an evening conference at the ongoing Gyeonggi-do Food Festival 2013 in Hanoi and Da Nang City.
