Heroin trafficker arrested in northern border Dien Bien province Vang A Vu at the investigation office Border guard forces in the northwestern province of Dien Bien on December 8 caught red-handed a man illegally transporting heroin in Nam Ke commune of Muong Nhe district. Vang A Vu, born in 1996 and residing in Co Lot village, Muong Nhe commune of Muong Nhe district, was arrested while he was riding motorbike from Co Lot village to the neighbouring Lai Chau province. He was carrying a bag with four bricks of heroin, weighing about 1.5kg. Vu then admitted that he bought the drugs from a person in Yangxin district of China’s Yunnan province for 50,000 Yuan (7,273 USD) and kept at his family’s field shack. He said that he was transporting the drugs to sell to a buyer in Lai Chau when he was arrested. No Vietnamese citizens onboard crashed Indonesian plane No Vietnamese citizens were marked as onboard the Lion Air passenger plane of Indonesia, which crashed into the sea on the morning of October 29, the country’s Vietnamese embassy confirmed. Indonesia’s Tribunsemsel.com and several other local websites have announced a list of the passengers aboard the plane, on which there are no Vietnamese nationals. The plane lost contact with air traffic control just 13 minutes after takeoff. The jet, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, was en route from Jakarta to Pangkakpinang in Bangka Belitung province off Sumatra island. The plane had requested the air traffic control to return to base before disappearing from radar, stated Bambang Ervan, a spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Transport. Add-on rooms put residents in peril Observations by the Vietnam News Agency's correspondent at the Den Lu 2 residential quarter in Ha Noi's Hoang Mai District showed that many add-on structures were built out of the apartment's balcony for several metres on the 17th and 18th floor causing dangerous conditions. Pham Vinh Quang, head of the E Building in the residential quarter, said that building the expanded parts seriously affected the building's safety. The management boards gave warning to the residents, but they still made it to have more space, he said. The same situation happened at other residential quarters such as the Trung Hoa-Nhan Chinh resettlement quarter in Thanh Xuan District, the A6 Building in Giang Vo Ward in Ba Dinh District and the Xuan La resettlement quarter in Tay Ho District.
