Janet Yellen Hopeful Biden Relief Package Will Bring Back Full Employment in 2022

· March 6, 2021 ·

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Friday that she hopes President Joe Biden 's $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package will help bring back full employment by 2022. Speaking with PBS News Hour , Yellen said the U.S. needs to "go big" with coronavirus relief in order to help get the economy back on track to pre-pandemic levels. "It's a big [stimulus] package, but I think that we need to go big now, and that we can afford to go big," she said. "And the most important thing is to get our economy back on track and help people get their lives back, in order to make sure that this pandemic doesn't permanently scar our work force. And I think this is what we need. I'm hopeful that, next year, with a package of this size, we can be back at full employment." Yellen's comments came after Friday's announcement that the U.S. economy exceeded expectations by adding 379,000 new jobs in February . While Yellen said she was "pleased" with those numbers, she added that the … [Read more...] about Janet Yellen Hopeful Biden Relief Package Will Bring Back Full Employment in 2022

What Andrew Cuomo’s Five Accusers Have Said About His Alleged Sexual Misconduct

· March 7, 2021 ·

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is coming under increasing pressure after two more women publicly accused him of being physically inappropriate with them. The claims bring the total of women who have spoken out against Cuomo to five, since Lindsey Boylan first accused the 63-year-old of creating a culture of "sexual harassment and bullying" within his team. Cuomo faces an independent investigation into the harassment allegations. New York state attorney general, Letitia James, will lead the probe into the claims outlined below. The governor has denied the allegations against him. In a statement released last week Cuomo conceded some of his words may "have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that." Speaking about on Wednesday, he said: "You know, my usual custom is to kiss and to hug and make that gesture. I understand that sensitivities have changed and behavior has changed, and I get it. "And I'm … [Read more...] about What Andrew Cuomo’s Five Accusers Have Said About His Alleged Sexual Misconduct

As Americans Watch Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview, British TV to Air Queen’s Message

· March 7, 2021 ·

The British royal family will present a united front on Sunday, delivering a message praising the Commonwealth just hours before the broadcast of a highly-awaited interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry . The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's pre-recorded tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey will air on CBS between 8 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET on Sunday, before being broadcast the following day on British broadcaster ITV at 9 p.m. on Monday (5 p.m. ET). However, in what could appear to critics as a pre-emptive attempt to divert the attention away from the couple, senior members of the Royal Family will seize British airwaves themselves in a special broadcast to mark the annual Commonwealth Day—a celebration of the association of 54 member states once part of the British Empire. Queen Elizabeth II , Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla are expected to give speeches in the event at Westminster Abbey, according to reports in British newspapers The Guardian and The Sunday … [Read more...] about As Americans Watch Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview, British TV to Air Queen’s Message

· March 7, 2021 ·

Kindly Share This Story: By James Ogunnaike The Ogun State government is to continue with the plan to construct an agro-cargo airport in the state. This was disclosed by  Governor  Dapo Abiodun when he received the Senate Committee on Aviation, led by Senator Smart Adeyemi, at the Exco Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan , Abeokuta. The governor said that the agro-cargo airport project, conceptualized by the Gbenga Daniel administration in 2007, has lots of potentials in the overall development of the state in particular and the country in general. It would be recalled that the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun jettisoned the idea of a cargo airport, opting instead, in 2018,for a passenger airport with its proposed location in the Ewekoro area of the state. Abiodun noted that what Ogun  is yearning for is an airport that will support its massive agro development potentials. The governor maintained that the people of … [Read more...] about Ogun needs agro-cargo, not passenger airport, Abiodun tells NASS
