Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester universities have seen their credit ratings hit as campus finances face a squeeze across the country. Credit rating agency Moody's dealt a blow yesterday to the financial reputations of several British universities. Oxford and Cambridge keep a top-class Aaa credit rating, but the outlook for both has been downgraded from 'stable' to 'negative' due to turbulence in the economy. But Manchester University, a member of the elite Russell Group, saw its Aa2 rating reduced to Aa3 – four steps from the top – following 'weak operating performance'. Leeds, Liverpool, Southampton, Keele and De Montfort all had their outlooks downgraded to 'negative' over concerns about the availability research funding and donations. JAIPUR: Oxford Dictionaries has chosen 'Aadhaar' as the Hindi word of 2017. The word gained popularity due to Aadhaar card, which was in news last year and is likely to remain in highlight this year as well. The announcement was made at a session "Oxford Dictionaries' Hindi Word of the Year" during the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival here. Other words such as 'Mitron', 'Notebandi', 'Gau-Rakshak' were also considered, but the widespread discussions and debates around 'Aadhaar' was reason it was selected as the word of the year, journalist Saurabh Dwivedi said during the discussion. Writer Pankaj Dubey said new words like 'Sleepawastha' (state of sleeping), 'Maukatarian' (opportunist) should be coined to express certain moods. The biggest transformation in more than 50 years is about to be unleashed on Oxford Street. In the next 1,000 days some £2.9billion is set to be spent to "catalyse the birth of a new West End", the New West End Company has said. The organisation - which represents Oxford, Bond and Regent Street businesses - said the money will go to ensure Oxford Street and the shops around it retain their place as a global shopping and leisure destination. Punjab spinner Mayank Markande, who made a name for himself in the IPL, playing for Mumbai Indians in 2018, was traded by the four-time IPL champions to Delhi Capitals early in July when the IPL 2020 trade window opened.
