The 27th Sarajevo Film Festival will pay tribute to German filmmaker Wim Wenders . The event, scheduled to run August 13-20 in the Bosnian capital, will see Wenders presented with an honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award – the fest’s top honor – and a retrospective of his works will be programmed to screen for audiences. The program will include a newly-restored version of his 2000 film The Million Dollar Hotel , which won a Silver Bear in Berlin that year. Wenders will also travel to Sarajevo, pandemic allowing, to host a masterclass. The filmmaker will be returning to Sarajevo 10 years after visiting in 2011 where he presented his 3D film Pina , a feature length documentary homage to the choreographer Pina Bausch. “We are delighted to honour one of the central figures of modern cinema. EXCLUSIVE: Brazil’s Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival, which is the largest genre event in South America, has locked a partnership with local streaming service Darkflix to allow it to host its 16th edition online, and free for local audiences. The 2020 edition of the fest was originally scheduled to take place in May this year, but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. As the virus is far from being contained in Brazil (the country now has both the second-highest number of infections and deaths in the world), organizers have ultimately decided that a physical edition will not be possible this year, and instead will pivot online. Running July 24 – August 2, Fantaspoa will see Darkflix host a number of Latin American premieres of new genre films, and will feature a total of 110 features and shorts from 35 countries. As the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush comes to an end on Monday, the transport regulator saw a significant decline intravel flow compared with last year and the year before. Based on estimates, a total of 870 million passenger trips would have been made this year, a year-on-year decrease of 40.8 percent and a drop of 70.9 percent compared with 2019, according to the Ministry of Transport on Monday. The decline comes after effective and intensified prevention measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 and government's call for people to cut unnecessary traveling. The railway handled 220 million passenger trips, a decline of 46.5 percent compared with 2019 and an increase of 3.5 percent from last year. A total of 600 million passenger trips were made on roads, a drop of 75.5 percent than in 2019 and 50.2 percent compared with last year. EXCLUSIVE: The largest genre film festival in South America, Fantaspoa , has unveiled the first half of its program for its seventeenth edition, running April 9-18. Scroll down for the full list. Like last year, the fest has been forced to run online due to the ongoing pandemic. It will be held completely free of charge with films available to stream in Brazil via a renewed partnership with Brazilian horror streaming service Darkflix. Last year’s event attracted more than 67,000 viewers. While the films are geo-locked, and limited to 3,000 viewers per screening, Q&As and workshops will be available to view anywhere in the world. There are 25 feature films confirmed to date, including three world premieres, five international premieres, and 10 Latin American premieres. Titles arrive from previous fests including San Sebastian, Rotterdam and Toronto. Singapore (VNA) – Vietnamese traditional dishes and products are being introduced at the Francophonie Festival 2021 that opened on March 8 in Singapore. The festival, themed “ Gender Equality ,” draws the participation of 21 countries. It has 16 major activities, including film, food and fine art festivals. Vietnam is one of the nine countries joining the food festival in the event, which has received great attention of not only the French-speaking community but also diplomatic delegations, international organisations and foreigners in Singapore. This is a chance for Vietnam to promote a number of Vietnamese food products that have been put into the retail system in Singapore . The International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) comprises 88 member countries and governments from five continents.
