BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — One year after publicly rejecting an offer to join Barcelona, France forward Antoine Griezmann put on his new blue-and-burgundy shirt and thanked the Spanish champions for giving him a second opportunity. Griezmann signed his five-year contract with Barcelona on Sunday to complete his move from rival Spanish club Atletico Madrid. After inking the deal, Griezmann told club president Josep Bartomeu “thanks for giving me another chance.” Griezmann had openly flirted with joining Barcelona last year in a “behind-the-scenes” documentary that followed him for weeks as he contemplated the pros and cons of staying at Atletico or making the jump to Lionel Messi’s club. The 45-minute “The Decision,” which was produced by a company owned by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, concluded with Griezmann accepting a new contract with Atletico, which also promised to provide him with teammates who could finally help him win an … [Read more...] about Griezmann thanks Barcelona for ‘another chance’ to join club

During tennis star Serena Williams’ embarrassing meltdown last year at the U.S. Open, she vowed that umpire Carlos Ramos, whom she unfairly accused of sexism, would “never” umpire one of her matches, again. Williams, it seems, got exactly what she asked for. The tennis beauty, who earned a silver medal with the two-time Wimbledon winner at the 2012 Olympics in London, has not been seen in competitive action since April. The 25-year-old had hip surgery in the summer of 2018 and saw a February comeback stall after revealing her ambition to be part of Great Britain’s Fed Cup team next year. She has since taken a break from the court to escape to Noosa Heads in Queensland, where Robson wowed fans on Instagram. Posting pictures of herself smiling in a red polka dot bikini, the Australia-born star wrote: "Me looking at the London forecast." Fellow tennis ace Katie Swan commented: "Now that’s an inferno Pilates bod."[Murray’s] got a totally bionic hip now, so he’s one-upped me there, but I’ve had access to the same programmes so fingers crossed I’m able to … [Read more...] about Tennis beauty Laura Robson stuns in tiny red polka dot bikini while sunning herself on luxury break away

The Dunblane-born ace, 32, has not played competitively since undergoing hip resurfacing surgery in January. He will partner Feliciano Lopez in the doubles at Queen’s this week but has not set a specific date for singles action just yet. Murray does hope to be back before the end of the year but faces a race against time to make the US Open at the end of August.
