Power Generation Corporation 1, under the State-run Vietnam Electricity Corporation, said in a press release that an accident occurred at 12:10 pm at a raw water pumping station owned by the company. Initial results of an investigation showed the deaths were due to gas suffocation during the sludge extraction process. The four workers were rushed to hospital but later died. Four workers at Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh died of suffocation on Thursday. The incident happened at around 12:10 pm at a raw water pumping station of the company which is located at Don Chau Commune, Duyen Hai Town. The scence of the accident According to the initial information, the fatalities were caused by gas suffocation during the sludge extraction process at the pumping station. Despite being taken to a local hospital, they died just hours after. The victims are Nguyen Van Quy, 30; Tang Toan Quoc, 28; Kim Minh Thuan, 27 and Kien Ngoc Den, 26 and all are from Tra Vinh Province.
