The ratio of operating profit to revenue for local companies, subject to external audit, was 5.2 percent in the April-June quarter, down 2.5 percentage points from a year earlier, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK). The rate of pre-tax net income to revenue declined 2.4 percentage points to 5.3 percent in the cited period. The lower profitability was attributed to the global trade dispute and the downturn in business cycle in the global semiconductor industry. The operating profit-to-revenue ratio among manufacturers tumbled to 5.5 percent in the second quarter from 9.5 percent a year earlier, while the ratio for non-manufacturers fell from 5.0 percent to 4.8 percent in the same period. NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister’s Office has sought details from the telecom department of the process being followed in the proposed Idea Cellular-Vodafone India merger amid delays in deal closure, people aware of the development said. The development comes even as initial approval to the deal looks set to get pushed back further, with the department of telecommunications (DoT) seeking more clarifications from its legal experts on the dues to be claimed from the two telcos. The two companies, and even DoT, had previously said they expect the deal to be cleared by June-end. Las Vegas-based GB Sciences Inc. agreed to sell its remaining 50% stake in its Louisiana medical marijuana business for $16 million to Wellcana Plus LLC, a Lafayette company that already owns the other half of the company.Based on a five-year deal signed in 2017, GB Sciences Louisiana is the exclusive partner for LSU's state-approved medical marijuana program and that arrangement now goes into the hands Wellcana Plus as the full owner of GB Sciences Louisiana. GB Sciences Louisiana sells produce wholesale medical marijuana products that are sold nine state-licensed pharmacies across the state, which have already sold tinctures to more than 1,500 eligible patients since August.Wellcana's deal with GB Scienses includes $8 million cash and another $8 million to be paid at a later date and is expected to be completed in October. Southern University picked Advanced Biomedics of Lafayette and its guaranteed $6 million in payments to operate the school's medical marijuana business.The other finalists to run Southern Ag Center's medical marijuana operations were Med Louisiana of Lafayette and Southern Roots Therapeutics of Baton Rouge. Each of the finalists made a five-minute presentation Friday to Southern's board of supervisors.
