At last we are to get out of Afghanistan , a country to which we should never have sent a single soldier. I am still full of fury at the shallow and ignorant politicians of all the main parties who sent young men and women into that futile war, to die or to be maimed, for absolutely no purpose. But as this long-overdue moment arrives, a frantic lobby in this country and in the USA wants to get us into a new and equally pointless war against Russia . As I know a bit about Russia, and once lived there, I'd like to warn against this. Yes, Russia is ruled by nasty, sinister despots. But it is not a major threat to us. We have no disputes about territory or trade. Its leaders and people care little about us. It is a defeated, poor country with an economy about the same size as Italy 's, which has been in headlong retreat and decline since the 1980s. Once it ruled a vast empire that began at Marienborn in the middle of Germany, less than 500 miles from Calais. Now it is almost … [Read more...] about PETER HITCHENS: Don’t blame Russia… WE are the ones pushing for a war

Paris Hilton Says 2004 Sex Tape Leak Gave Her PTSD: I Would Be In Tears Every Single Day
Paris Hilton recently opened up about the 2004 sex tape leak. The Hollywood star during an interview with Vanity Fair, said that the tape was released without her consent by her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon. Hilton revealed that the release left her with long term trauma, and calling it "humiliating" she added it is "something that will hurt me for the rest of my life." The tape was meant to be kept between Hilton and her then-boyfriend Rick Saloman. Reportedly, Saloman himself posted the tape on the internet without Hilton's knowledge. After Paris publicly claimed that the tapes were released without her consent, Salomon sued Hilton for defamation. Hilton then countersued him for the release of the tape. They settled out of court a year later in 2005. The sex tape had turned into a media sensation. Recalling the incident Paris said, "It's always there in the back of my mind. When it happened, people were so mean about it to me. The way that I was spoken … [Read more...] about Paris Hilton Says 2004 Sex Tape Leak Gave Her PTSD: I Would Be In Tears Every Single Day
Was worried about my technique after getting dropped in Aus: Shaw
'After returning from Australia, I worked with my coach Prashant Shetty sir and also Pravin Amre sir before going to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and it worked quite well. I played my natural game in Vijay Hazare Trophy, but I made a small technical change. After that, it's going well.' Photograph: Delhi Capitals/Twitter The promising Prithvi Shaw says he had started "worrying" about his technique after being dropped in Australia before roaring back to form in domestic cricket, thanks to a few technical changes he made in his game. Shaw, 21, was dropped after his twin failures in the opening Test at Adelaide last December. However, the Mumbai batsman dominated the Vijay Hazare Trophy like no other in the history of the tournament, amassing a whopping 827 runs in eight matches. Plan meal times. Kindly note the image has been posted only for representational purposes. Photograph: Kind courtesy Sanjay Jagannath Last year, a vast majority of organisations around the world began working from home the same day the World Health Organization officially declared coronavirus as a pandemic. Earlier this year, many of us started going back to the office, adapting the hybrid working model, abiding by the government norms of office capacity, and much more. However, with the cases rising once again in our country, looks like we are back to working from our homes for some time now. Yes, working remotely can be hugely satisfying and productive, but it can also be challenging at the same time. There's an added advantage of spending more time with your near and dear ones, saving on the time you would spend on your daily commute, and working in a space where you’re already quite comfortable. On the other hand, some of us have drowned ourselves in work, … [Read more...] about Working from home? 5 USEFUL tips
‘Young people won’t tolerate abrasive behaviour’
'When you have a more multi-generational workforce and more younger people coming in who have a very strong sense of what is wrong, and what is right, along with the opportunity to call out this kind of behaviour through mechanisms like social media, these problems will see the light of day and will get addressed.' Why do employees tolerate it? "Each of us needs to determine what is fundamentally important to us," Amit Chincholikar , the global chief human resources officer at Tata Consumer Products, tells Savera R Someshwar/ Rediff.com . Chincholikar -- who has worked in various companies including Tata Sons Ltd and the Aditya Birla Group in a career spanning 22 years -- adds, "Individuals may believe they don't have a choice but that's where I have a slightly … [Read more...] about ‘Young people won’t tolerate abrasive behaviour’
