Joe Lunardi weighs in on what Michigan State needs to do for NCAA Tournament bid

· March 7, 2021 ·

Entering Sunday's regular-season finale against Michigan, what more does Michigan State need to do for a spot in the NCAA tournament? Ahead of a 4:30 p.m. ET tip-off on CBS between the Spartans (14-11, 8-11 Big Ten) and No. 2 Wolverines (19-2, 14-2), ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi set the stage with a potential path for MSU. "I think Sparty needs one more win," Lunardi said Sunday morning on ESPN's SportsCenter. "Whether it's today or in the 8-9 game of the Big Ten tournament next week, when they'll play either Maryland or Rutgers, I think that would safely put Michigan State into the field. "Now, personally? I would never take an 8-11 team from a conference into the tournament. But Michigan State does have wins over a presumptive one seed in Illinois and a likely two seed in Ohio State, and the committee has shown us time and time again that they will reach down into a power conference and take a team like that — and, in terms of my preference, I'm pretty sure ... I don't have a … [Read more...] about Joe Lunardi weighs in on what Michigan State needs to do for NCAA Tournament bid

Mike Locksley praised for early work at Maryland

· March 6, 2021 ·

In the Big Ten’s shortened college football season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maryland Terrapins finished 2-3 under second-year head coach Mike Locksley . Maryland saw wins over Minnesota and Penn State with losses to Northwestern, Indiana, and Rutgers. Locksley was 3-9 with Maryland in 2019, his first full season as the coach. In a recent Bleacher Report article , author Brad Shepard listed Locksley as one of nine college football coaches who are rebuilding their programs the right way. “Maryland finished just behind Ole Miss in recruiting at No. 18, and the Terrapins loaded up with playmakers on defense,” Shepard writes. “Five-star linebacker Terrence Lewis, and 4-star linebacker Branden Jennings and defensive end Demeioun Robinson are future stars. “They aren't the only high-ceiling prospects in that class, though. “While there were disappointments in an abridged 2-3 season, there were also high points like beating Penn State 35-19 and upending … [Read more...] about Mike Locksley praised for early work at Maryland

Man, smells like old gym socks and gym shorts left in an abandoned gym. By a guy named Jim. Sorry, I just came from the gym. Oh, I know what it is! It’s the Mac mini. Silly me. It should have been obvious because if we check the MacRumors buying guide , we can see that the Mac mini was last updated sometime during the Eisenhower administration. Well, OK, two years ago. That’s still a long time. Word on the street, though, is the mini will get updated possibly as soon as this month . Of course, that street is Rumors Avenue, so take them with a grain of salt. Or a shaker of salt. Or one of those Morton’s salt … [Read more...] about Grading the rumors on Mac mini updates, iPad delays, and MacBook colors

President Obama & White House Staff use Macs

· July 29, 2010 ·

President Barack Obama uses a MacBook Pro 15″ with antiglare screen, and it looks like the entire White House staff uses Macs too. The topmost picture is from a White House video and the other image of White House staff is from Fortune . It’s not just Macs that the White House is crazy over, the iPad has also become very popular in the current administration, according to CBS News : Practically everyone has an iPad — or will have one very soon. Emanuel just got his, as did senior adviser David Axelrod and deputy press secretary Bill Burton. Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer and press wrangler Ben Finkenbinder each have one on order. Economic adviser Larry Summers takes his to staff meetings. The device is the hot, new White House toy, a gizmo that is popping up around Washington but seems to be particularly in vogue at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The irony in all of this of course is that President Obama recently made the following comment about iPods … [Read more...] about President Obama & White House Staff use Macs

Boulder police break up massive party on University Hill

· March 6, 2021 ·

A large, out-of-control party on University Hill raged for several hours Saturday evening until Boulder police were able to disperse the large crowd, but not before hundreds of people gathered with no social distancing, set off fireworks and flipped a car. Social media posts about the gathering near Pennsylvania Avenue and 10th Street began shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, as hundreds of college-aged revelers packed the street with no social distancing and very little mask wearing. Boulder police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said police estimated that there may have been up to 800 people in the area at one point. Waugh initially said police were “aware of what’s going on and have been developing a strategy response.” Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, a Boulder police SWAT vehicle arrived and began telling those gathered over the loud speaker to disperse or face “arrest,” “tear gas,” or “use of force.” A large number of people dispersed upon seeing the police vehicle, but some … [Read more...] about Boulder police break up massive party on University Hill
