Forecasters say that Vietnam will continue facing difficulties in rice exports this year because of abundant supply. Vietnam’s rice exports forecast to continue facing difficulties in 2014 According to Truong Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Vietnam Food Association, Thailand will sell out its rice in-stock rice supply at any cost to pay debts to farmers. Meanwhile, the Thai rice output for the 2013-2014 crop is forecast to reach 20-21 million tonnes, up 1%-2% against the last crop. This would likely result in a fierce competition. Phong said that in the days to come the association would send a proposal to the government on possible solutions to ease difficulties for Vietnamese farmers. The export of cement and clinker increased sharply in the first month of 2018 Accordingly, the export of cement and clinker increased by 121 pct in volume and 112 pct in value over the same period last year, reaching 2.9 million tonnes, equivalent to US$101.12 million. However, cement and clinker prices in January decreased 4.6 pct compared with December 2017, at an average of US$34.8 per tonne. Among the 12 major export markets for Vietnamese clinker and cement, exports to Bangladesh were the highest, accounting for 31.3 pct of the total, with over 909,109 tonnes. National press contest on anti-corruption 2017 announced The 2017 national press award on the fight against and prevention of corruption and wastefulness has been launched by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.
