A DAD who fell asleep at the wheel causing the death of his fiancée has been spared jail. Dominic Evans, 21, was driving his 22-year-old partner Kayleigh Gill and their two young kids back home from Gatwick Airport in the early hours of the morning when his car veered across a motorway and hit an 18-ton truck. The two children, aged two and four, were strapped in the back of the car and they and Evans escaped unhurt. Care worker Kayleigh, who was the front seat passenger, suffered multiple injuries and died two days later in hospital. Evans, from Bere Alston in Devon, admitted causing death by careless driving. A judge suspended Evans' jail sentence and handed him the shortest possible driving ban after hearing how he has had to give up work to look after the two children full time. The judge told Evans: "It seems to me the inevitable conclusion is that you were nodding off after your flight back to the UK. Curse of being ‘spare to the heir’: Is Harry doomed to follow in scandal-strewn footsteps of ‘Randy’ Andy and Margaret?
When Prince William chose younger brother Harry to be Best Man at his wedding, few realised the significance of the request. William was, and is, acutely aware Prince Harry is destined to live his whole life in his shadow – in a supporting role. As the second son of the future monarch Harry is, as Royal Family experts put it so bluntly: “The spare to the heir.” Events this week have shown it is a role that comes with perils as well as privileges. And it has proved a poison chalice to previous Windsor “spares” such as Prince Andrew and Princess Margaret. The photos of Harry’s naked antics in Las Vegas have caused acute embarrassment to the Royal Family and earned him a severe dressing down from his father. Operation Khataara: Khataara menace hasn’t even spared Mantralaya
State home department seeks help from the traffic police to move 25 abandoned vehicles; says they are impeding movement of emergency vehicles; police ask for special powers and extra land. Even Mantralaya needs a helping hand with the growing menace of khataaras. The construction of a tunnel between Mantralaya and the Vidhan Bhawan has shrunk the parking space in the area, impeding movement of ambulances and fire tenders. Diminishing the expanse further are 25 khataaras that are taking up the precious space within the premises and the west-side parking lot. The state home department has asked for the unclaimed vehicles to be towed away, but the traffic police say they needs special powers and a plot in Shahapur, Thane, to dump them. Though the police have land in Mahul, it is said to be insufficient. Earlier this week, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Somnath Gharge and Assistant Commissioner of Police L Donde were summoned to the home department to find a solution. As the … [Read more...] about Operation Khataara: Khataara menace hasn’t even spared Mantralaya
