The meeting was held Friday by Vietnam's State Securities Commission and several large Vietnamese companies. HA NOI (Biz Hub)– The Ministry of Public Securities has found the three individual believed to have started rumour that the chairman of the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) was arrested in February, causing chaos in the stock market. The three suspects are aged between 28-37 years and are currently working in Ha Noi and HCM City. They allegedly spread the rumour through online forums. However, their crime adversely affected the financial and currency markets. HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Lao stock market holds opportunities for Vietnamese investors, with a newly born securities firm and a recent memorandum of understanding between the Lao Stock Exchange and Viet Nam's bourses. In March, Lao Airlines met with the country's Securities and Exchange Commission Office to formally announce its intention to list. There are currently only two listed stocks in the market: Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL) and electricity firm EDL-Generation (EDL-Gen). BCEL has fallen around 7 per cent since the beginning of the year, but EDL-Gen has risen 13.8 per cent. Also in March, the Lao stock market welcomed a new securities company, Lao-China Securities Co Ltd. It expects to deliver a variety of services including brokerage and underwriting by July. From January to March 2007, the VN-Index peaked at 1,170.67 points (March 12) after a steady rise. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s stock market outperformed a number of developed global markets in terms of foreign investment last year, according to Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung. Overseas investment in the market rose by 6.1 percent, while Indonesia and Thailand saw drops of approximately 15 percent, followed by India and Malaysia (5 percent), the UK (2.3 percent), the US (2.23 percent) and Australia (2.1 percent). The capitalization of the country’s stock market totalled 58.8 billion USD, equal to 34.5 percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), an increase of 17 percent from 2014. Vietnam attracted 299 trillion VND (13.3 billion USD) in capital through the market. The securities market stayed stable in 2015, but remained vulnerable to fluctuations on the global market, especially foreign currencies, Dung stated.
