The Lao National Television on September 2 officially aired the first news pogramme in Vietnamese on the occasion of Vietnam’s 70th National Day, aiming to foster the special ties between the two countries. Guests on the occasion included Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Savankhone Razmontry, deputy head of the Lao Party Central Committee for Propaganda and Training Sipasoth Sengsavath, Envoy at the Vietnam Embassy in Laos Hoang Xuan Hai, and representatives from Vietnam Television Channel 4. The news programme is broadcast live from 18:00 to 18:15 from Monday to Friday, targeting the Vietnamese community in the country and those who understand Vietnamese. Taken by Italian photographer Paolo Belletti, the 20 photos on display are a part of a huge collection that he has compiled in the two iconic cities since last June. The freelance photographer said he decided to depict Milan and Rome in his Nocturnal Memory project because the cities "have significantly influenced my own background." Japanese drum troupe tours Vietnam Japan’s traditional drum troupe Bati-Holic will make a performance tour of Vientam next month, with the first show at the Hanoi-based Youth Theater on April 4. The announcement was made recently by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam. Free tickets are available at Japan Foundation from 14:00 on March 28. The troupe will then perform at the opening ceremony of 2014 Hue Festival on April 12 and a drum concert at Ngo Mon (Noon Gate) Square in Hue city on April 13. This is the second time the troupe will have performed in Vietnam; the first was at the Nippon Genki Festival in Ho Chi Minh City in 2012. Founded in Kyoto in 2004, the six-member group play rock, using traditional Japanese instruments. They stage more than 100 shows a year at various venues in Japan and overseas. Alex Ferguson retiring: Live Report
