John Humphrys, the veteran British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) journalist who helmed its flagship Today programme for 33 years, exposed the publicly-funded broadcaster “institutional liberal bias” within days of his retirement. Mr Humphrys expressed his relief at being free from “the BBC Thought Police” which he claims has “tried to mould the nation into its own liberal-Left image”, despite the broadcaster’s notional legals requirement to remain balanced and impartial, in memoirs which are being serialised by the Daily Mail . The 76-year-old Welshman revealed the BBC’s “[great] fear of the politically correct brigade and the most fashionable pressure groups — usually from the liberal Left, the spiritual home of most bosses and staff”, and how the “disaster” of the British people’s vote to Leave the European Union in 2016 — against the advice of the left-neoliberal establishment — sent them reeling: “The morning of the EU Referendum was different. Leave had won — and … [Read more...] about BBC Veteran: ‘BBC Thought Police’ Want to ‘Mould’ UK’ In Left’s Image

LONDON -- For several months the British media have been anticipating the advent of GB News, a new conservative news channel and self-proclaimed antidote to the "metropolitan bias" of mainstream media, embodied by legacy broadcasters the BBC and Sky News. British broadcasting, unlike in the U.S., is constrained by impartiality laws. Yet the new channel's focus on pundit-led journalism, and an avowed mission statement to challenge liberal orthodoxies, represents something of a sea change in U.K. media. While the founders have largely dismissed suggestions the channel will be a British equivalent to Fox News, it is easy to see why such comparisons have been drawn by commentators . "I'm doing it because I believe the direction of news debate in Britain is increasingly woke and out of touch with the majority of its people," GB News founder and chairman Andrew Neil, a former veteran of the BBC, wrote in The Sunday Express , a tabloid, back in February. Yet since its launch … [Read more...] about Fox News-style network embraces UK culture wars, will it work?
The LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall has told teachers in Britain to ditch the terms boys and girls and refer to pupils with the gender-neutral “learners”. Stonewall, which has been supported financially by the nominally Conservative government in the UK, told schools that all “gendered” language should be removed from the classroom and that sports should no longer be divided by sex. The leftist charity said in advice reported by The Telegraph that “it is unnecessary to say ‘boys and girls’ when referring to learners of all genders, you could instead say ‘learners’.” The LGBTQ+ charity also called for the teaching of the controversial and grammatically dubious “they/them” pronouns, saying that teachers should refrain from using any “unnecessarily gendered language. Instead of using ‘he’/‘she’, you could use ‘they’.” “Avoid dividing learners by gender, whether in the classroom (you could divide them by their favourite colour, month of birth or something else) or through uniform, … [Read more...] about LGBT Charity Tells Teachers to Say ‘Learner’ Instead of ‘Boy’ and ‘Girl’
MPs have approved the recommendation from the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to suspend Labour’s Keith Vaz from the House of Commons following an inquiry into his “coke and rent boys” scandal. The left-wing Sunday Mirror exposed in 2016 that married Vaz had exploited male migrant prostitutes and that he had “jokingly” describing himself as a “pimp” in an audio recording. At the time the scandal broke, the Labour MP, previously Minister for Europe in Tony Blair’s government, was a member of Parliament’s Home Affairs Select Committee and leading an investigation into illegal drugs. He stepped down from the Home Affairs committee once his interactions with the prostitutes, which included references to abusing cocaine and “poppers”, were made public. But he was, within a matter of weeks, elected to the Justice Committee in a move Tory parliamentarian Andrew Bridgen branded at the time as an “utter disgrace” . Keith Vaz Makes Trips to India and Saudi – But ‘Too … [Read more...] about Labour MP Suspended from Commons over ‘Coke and Rent Boys’ Scandal
The FDA is sharing new details on a study it's funding that could lead to the removal of longtime restrictions around blood donations by gay or bisexual men. The first-of-its-kind pilot study aims to gather and present data to the FDA for review by late 2021, ABC News has learned exclusively. A change in this FDA policy would mean that more gay and bisexual men would be able to give blood in the U.S. and end what critics have called discriminatory federal guidelines. The U.K. announced on Monday it would lift its blanket blood-donation policy for all men who have had sex with men. The mandate, based solely on sexual preference, required all gay and bisexual men to abstain from sex with men for three months before being eligible to give blood. The new criteria, hailed as "landmark change," according to Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock, will instead focus on individualized risk-based assessments. The revised policy is designed to show that there's no impact on … [Read more...] about FDA launches study that could lead to removal of restrictions on blood donations by gay and bisexual men
