Arrests made following spate of Western Bay of Plenty thefts

Four people have been arrested following a spate of thefts targeting wallets in cars in the Western Bay of Plenty area. Police have executed a series of search warrants in Greerton, Pyes Pa, Welcome Bay, Papamoa, Bethlehem and Athentree. The warrants related to a series of thefts from cars, occurring over several recent weeks in the Western Bay of Plenty area. The people responsible would steal valuable items but target wallets, and use the cards to purchase items throughout the Western Bay, fraudulently purchasing thousands of dollars’ worth of goods with the paywave cards.
