Vietnam's recent flare-up with China in contested waters is likely to top the agenda at a forthcoming regional summit, but analysts doubt any breakthrough will be achieved in a diverse bloc that remains divided over the issue. “I suppose it will be prominent at the summit,” Mark Valencia, a Hawaii-based expert, told Thanh Nien News. “But I doubt it will move ASEAN as a whole to any condemnation of China alone,” he said, referring to the two-day summit that begins Saturday in Myanmar. Vietnam, China Open Joint Water Tourism Route Central Thua Thien-Hue province will join hands with China's Guangxi Province to open a sea tourism route linking Beihei of Guangxi and local Chan May port, read a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on tourism development recently signed the two sides, a state media said. Vo Phi Hung, director of the Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism, said tourism officials and businesses in Beihei had surveyed the route, adding that his province received good feedback from the partners. New Vietnam-China sea tour to be launched
Beihai Morning Shine, a Chinese cruise ship with 415 tourists, has arrived at Ha Long Bay. Quang Ninh province's Tourism Department said this was a pilot sea trip from Beihai city in Guangxi province of China to the bay. After the pilot trip, the Beihai-HaLongBay sea tourism service will be officially launched on July 24. The cruise, which can accommodate 800 passengers, will carry Chinese visitors to Ha Long Bay every two days. At present, the Beihai-Ha Long Bay routes operate while Hainan-Ha Long Bay service has stopped operating until this August due to lack of passenger ships.
