Vietnam considered promising host country for expats: HSBC surveyBy Minh Tam A foreign director of a manpower company, which opened its representative office in HCMC in May 2018, speaks at an event held by the company – PHOTO: TUONG VI HCMC – Vietnam ranks second among six surveyed ASEAN countries and 19th globally as a country where expats are eager to live and work in the 11th annual Expat Explorer survey by Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). Expats in Vietnam revealed that they earn on average US$90,408 annually, with 31% of them seeing an income rise of 25% or more, according to the survey released today, November 7. Vietnam ranks first globally with nearly three quarters (72%) of respondents stating that moving to Vietnam helped them save more, while 72% also agreed that they now have more disposable income than they did in their home countries. Expat children in Vietnam thrive culturally, survey says

But for most, health and well-being don't improve after moving to Vietnam. Expat parents say Vietnam has left good impacts on their children’s lifestyle, an HSBC survey has found. Half of the respondents believe their children’s overall quality of life is better as a result of the move to Vietnam, while 30 percent rate it the same. Up to 77 percent find that moving to Vietnam helps their children become open to new cultures and experiences and 69 percent see it is a good opportunity for the children to be fluent in more than one language. Despite those benefits, only one-fifth agree that the health and well-being of their children is better while 49 percent say it the same, according to the annual HSBC’s Expat Explorer survey. In comparision, on the global scale, around half of expat parents say moving abroad improve their children's health and well-being. Vietnam regarded as Czech Republic’s priority partner

Sang told PM Bohuslav Sobotka that Vietnam always attaches high importance to strengthening the time-honoured friendship with traditional relations with Central and Eastern European Countries including the Czech Republic. President Sang noted with satisfaction the positive development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in a multitude of fields- politics, diplomacy, economics, trade and investment. Sang praised the Czech government for putting Vietnam on the list of 12 key markets in its 2012-2020 export strategy and asked the European country to facilitate Vietnamese goods’ greater availability in the Czech market, especially agricultural forestry and aquatic products, garments and textiles and footwear. Japan to provide patrol ships to Vietnam

Japan to provide patrol ships to Vietnam The Japanese Government has decided to provide Vietnam with six used patrol boats as part of a non-refundable aid package, and hopes these vessels will be upgraded for security patrols at sea. Japanese government sources said on July 31 Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida who arrived in Vietnam the same day for an official visit is expected to announce the delivery of the vessels during talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on August 1. Two of the vessels are fisheries surveillance boats and the remainder are fishing boats. They are 600-800 ton class vessels. The sources also said Japan will also supply lifeboats and other equipment to Vietnam. The non-refundable aid package is worth JPY500 million.
