New Delhi: The government of India will bring the online news media publishers under the same gambit as the traditional media publishers, such as newspapers and news channels. In a press conference, chaired by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Law & Justice, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Minister of India, and Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Information & Broadcasting; & Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises on Thursday the government announced the new Digital Media Ethics Code. The document mentions section 87 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 that offers the government powers to make such rules. South Korea to extend virus guidelines on prevention, sanitation
SEOUL: South Korea will extend its prevention and sanitation guidelines against the coronavirus until daily new infections drop to single digits, the health minister said on Friday (Jun 12), failing which he warned of a return to tough social distancing measures. The announcement came as such cases persist in the mid-double digits following a series of new clusters in the area around Seoul, the capital. South Korea reported 56 new cases on Thursday, taking the national tally to 12,003, and 277 deaths. WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Monday (Mar 30) that federal social distancing guidelines might be toughened and travel restrictions with China and Europe would stay in place as he urged Americans to help fight the coronavirus with tough measures through April. Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House, said more than 1 million Americans had been tested for the coronavirus, which he called a milestone. The president announced on Sunday that the recommendations, which include encouraging people not go gather in groups larger than 10 and to avoid dining in restaurants or bars, would be through the end of next month after initially being put in place for 15 days to curb the virus's spread. "The guidelines will be very much as they are, maybe even toughened up a little bit," he told reporters on Monday.
