SINGAPORE: A wild boar was caught in Punggol on Friday (Feb 26) after injuring a woman and an NParks officer who tried to help her. This happened close to where the two incidents occurred on Saturday. According to Member of Parliament Sun Xueling, residents spotted a wild boar in the Punggol Seas and Ecopolitan area on Friday afternoon. A cordon was set up along the waterway to secure the area, she said on Facebook, adding that the police, NParks and its contractors were activated. "The officers then gave chase when the wild boar charged out of the vegetation where it then attacked a lady. Two NParks officers who were chasing the wild boar and a resident managed to free the lady from the wild boar," said Minister of State for the Ministry of National Development Tan Kiat How. "The wild boar was darted by the officers but in the process, one of the officers was himself bitten by the wild boar." SINGAPORE: Four people were fined S$2,500 each on Wednesday (Jan 13) for feeding wild boars at Lorong Halus, with a total of 19 people to be charged for the offence over the coming weeks - the largest number since the Wildlife Act came into effect last June. The location of the feeding site is "within a few kilometres" of a park in Pasir Ris where a wild boar attack took place on Nov 17 last year, said the National Parks Board (NParks). The 19 individuals were caught feeding the wild boars with bread or dog food between Nov 26 and Dec 7 by NParks staff on inspection rounds. Some were alone, while others were observed in groups of up to three. NParks summoned and brought the first eight alleged offenders to court on Wednesday, while the remaining 11 will be charged over the next two weeks. Commentary: Are we inept at handling wild animals that come our way?
SINGAPORE: Recently, a pest control company received flak for mishandling a python they were called on to deal with. The criticism came after a YouTube video circulated online of pest control officers allegedly mishandling a python while removing it from a drain in Jurong West. Many, especially those in the animal and environment protection world, must have been thinking, not again. "As we grow into a city in a garden, it is important that we start raising awareness about our urban wildlife," wildlife rescue group the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) deputy chief executive Kalai Vanan told media. "We cannot achieve that with pest control handling wild animals as it associates wild animals with being pests." Full moons make me wild, I once got so horny I made my man have sex on his gran’s veg patch
TRUE believers can't deny the link between their behaviour and a full moon, with the extraordinary lunar phase often causing some pretty strange behaviour for many. But for one woman, the full moon means an increase in libido - with an overwhelming desire to have sex. The snow moon, the second full moon of the year, will appear in the sky tomorrow, Saturday 27 Feb , and Bianca Riemer is gearing up for the occasion, admitting it "makes me wild." The mum-of-two recalled the time she had sex with her now-husband in a veggie patch because of it, and speaking to Helen Carroll for Daily Mail , explained how a full moon makes her feel. Once, when visiting her then-boyfriend's grandmother for the first time, the couple took a stroll in the garden. But unable to control her desires, and desperate for some privacy, she convinced her boyfriend to go at it then and there, on his gran's carrots. WHAT IS THE LUNAR CALENDAR? Lunar calendars have been around since … [Read more...] about Full moons make me wild, I once got so horny I made my man have sex on his gran’s veg patch
